About Diane Fujimoto

ART, in some form or fashion, has been a like a thread weaving all the parts of my life together.  As a child and through my teens, I found myself drawn to all kinds of creative outlets, be it art class in school , sewing my own clothes or making crafts. Thinking of how I could turn ART into a career, I found a home at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences ( now Philadelphia University) . I took my degree in Textile Design to New York City, where I spent over a decade in the textile and fashion industry.
A major life change occurred in 1995 when I met my husband and moved from the East Coast to the San Francisco Bay Area. Once I was settled, that recurring thread pulled on me again to find a new creative outlet.
I knew as soon as I started painting in watercolor that I had found my medium.

Painting gives me a way to express myself, without having to say a word.  Watercolor offers me the tools to bring those emotions to a blank, white paper and create something new with rich colors and textures- it's such a simple act; combine paint and water and apply with your brush and I guarantee you, you'll never get bored!  It truly is a magical medium.
